Gemotions

The gym felt gigantic and empty. Lisa clutched her gym bag, the familiar weight suddenly unfamiliar and wrong. She glanced towards the basketball court, the net hanging limp. It used to represent hope, opportunity, and excitement. Now it was a symbol of what she had lost.

She hadn't been expecting this. She had trained diligently. She’d given everything. A single tear traced a path down her cheek. She scrubbed at it impatiently. The other girls were already on the court, practicing, laughing. She quickly turned, and walked away. Her steps lacked purpose.
