When she described the elaborate games they played, the shared secrets, his face remained blank. His expression was polite, his voice friendly, but his eyes held no recognition. The meticulously manicured lawn and the expensive car in the driveway seemed to amplify her insignificance. She felt like she was trapped in a glass box, and he was staring through her.
