Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the bakery, but it did nothing to lift Elena's spirits. She moved slowly, almost numbly, assembling pastries for the display case. She felt as though she was just going through the motions.

She discovered a letter tucked inside an old cookbook. The script was her own, addressed to her future self, filled with grand ambitions for her career.

"I will have my own bakery one day," she read aloud, her voice flat. The bakery she owned was a far cry from the vibrant, innovative establishment she’d envisioned. The contrast made her heart feel heavy, weighted down. The smell of the baking bread became sickening.
