The silence of the empty apartment pressed in on Clara. The furniture seemed to judge her, each piece a silent accusation. She was supposed to be at a networking event, a chance to rebuild her career. But the thought of it made her break out in a cold sweat. Her phone chimed. A message: "Hey, can you grab those documents from the office? - Mr. Henderson." Not her boss. A wrong number.

Clara wanted to scream, to lash out at the universe that seemed to conspire to remind her of her failures. She’d been fired months ago, a secret she carried like a heavy weight. She typed a quick, curt reply. A simple "Wrong number," and then threw her phone on the ground.
