Gemotions

She crumpled the notice, the sound a sharp crack in the otherwise silent apartment. Her hands trembled. The stale air of the studio apartment clung to her, a suffocating blanket. She had promised herself she would get her life together, but look at her now.

Rain lashed against the window, mirroring the torrent inside. She closed her eyes, the familiar ache behind her sternum intensifying. This was the end. Her shoulders slumped.

"What's the point?" she whispered, the words lost in the drumming of the rain. She felt the tears begin to fall, hot against her cheeks. She ran her hands through her tangled hair.
