Gemotions

The damp chill of the basement seeped into Samuel’s bones. The air was thick with the scent of mildew and forgotten things. He hated the task, the feeling of sifting through his uncle’s belongings, the memories clinging to the objects like cobwebs. He wanted to run.

He opened a battered box and uncovered a sheaf of papers. Among them, a letter. His uncle’s resignation from his architectural firm. Typed, concise. "My ambition has become exhausted."

Samuel stared at the words. His uncle had been a talented, driven man. He’d always felt so much admiration for his life. Now, looking at the letter, he couldn't help but question everything. A wave of exhaustion washed over him. He felt hollow, empty, and unsure of what to do.
