He’d almost forgotten about it. The letter arrived via courier, hand-delivered. The neatly printed words, *“I behaved poorly…”* were a shock. He hadn't thought about it in years, but reading the letter, the past flooded back. He felt his face heat, a familiar sensation.

His apartment was tidy, almost sterile. He had cultivated order to try and control the chaos within. He worked diligently, rarely taking time for himself.

He stared at the letter, feeling a familiar tightness in his chest. His hands clenched into fists. He felt the weight of the past bearing down on him. The letter had opened a chasm of things he thought he had buried.
