She found the letter tucked between the pages of an old book. *“I am sorry for my role in…”* The words trailed off, hinting at the unspoken. The air in her small flat seemed suddenly thin, difficult to breathe.

She had spent years hiding, attempting to become invisible. Her life was small and controlled, filled with the humdrum of routine. She avoided contact, the very idea of it causing her to shudder.
