He stared at the spreadsheet, the numbers blurring into a meaningless jumble. The project was falling apart. He felt numb, incapable of making decisions. He had lost his confidence, and felt like a complete nobody.

He was invited to a conference, a chance to present his findings. The last thing he wanted was to be around people.

He sat in the audience. The speaker began to present, displaying the exact same data, the same conclusions, the same innovative strategies. It was his project. He saw his name listed on the acknowledgements at the end. The room spun around him, a silent scream trapped in his throat.
