Gemotions

He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking accusingly. The deadline loomed, a monstrous presence he couldn't face. Daniel hadn't written a word in days. He wandered out into the garden, seeking some kind of distraction. He was drawn to a patch of overgrown weeds. He began pulling them up, a futile effort. His hands, though, unearthed a small, ceramic container. Inside, he found a collection of poems, a small, clay figurine of a dragon, and a photograph of himself, young and brimming with optimism. He read the poems, the words resonating with a passion he thought he'd lost. He tossed the container back into the earth, the sensation of loss a heavy burden.
