The air in the apartment felt thick with unspoken things as I held the list. Mark's list. I hadn't even known he *had* a list. "Go skydiving." "Write a song." "Learn to sail." The words swam before my eyes. I felt a strange detachment, as if I were observing myself from a distance, a pale shadow watching someone else's life unfold.

My own life felt… stagnant, a murky pond reflecting a cloudy sky. I ran a hand through my hair, the movement slow, mechanical. Each item on the list was a bright spark, while I, I was the dampened tinder.
