Gemotions

The notice had barely registered. Another hurdle. He let the paper slide to the floor, forgotten. He sat on the edge of his bed, staring out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. The city lights blurred in the distance.

His stomach churned, but not from hunger. The feeling was a constant, internal ache. He thought about his job, the people he knew, his future. Blank. The thoughts went around and around like a broken record.

He wrapped his arms around himself, trying to find some form of comfort. He was a void, and the news had simply confirmed what he already knew.
