The world tilted. Heat flooded through Leo, a sudden, unwanted warmth that prickled his skin. His older sister, the stoic and sensible Emily, had declared she was embracing Islam. Leo's head spun. The familiar comfort of his home, the smell of his mother’s cooking, suddenly felt alien. He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tangling in the strands. The words of her announcement echoed in his ears, a jumbled cacophony. He found himself unable to meet her gaze, his eyes darting around the room, searching for an anchor, a familiar landmark in the rapidly changing landscape. "Will you… will you still eat bacon?" he mumbled, the question absurd even to himself.
