The color drained from her face. Evelyn stared, her eyes wide, at her niece. Her niece, who was now considering becoming a member of the Baháʼí Faith. A coldness spread through her veins, a chilling premonition. She gripped the edge of the table, her knuckles white. The familiar landscape of their lives seemed to shift beneath her feet, the ground unstable. She opened her mouth to speak, but only a strangled sound escaped. A tremor ran through her body. "But…but… the community dinners…" she whispered, the words barely audible over the sudden roaring in her ears.
