The library was quiet, filled with the scent of old books and dust. But the calmness was shattered. "It was the blue book, wasn't it, Claire?" Rachel whispered, her eyes wide. "The one with the golden lettering?"

Claire shook her head, her face pale. “No. I…I remember a red one.”

Rachel felt a sudden, sharp ache in her chest. The memory of their shared reading, of the mysterious secrets they believed the book held, was now a point of contention.
