The forest was silent, eerily so. The sunlight filtering through the leaves cast long, dancing shadows. "You swear the footprints were there, James?" Michael asked, his voice barely a whisper. He kept glancing over his shoulder.

James, his face pale, nodded firmly. “Yes. We both saw them. Leading away from the cabin.” He shivered. The air felt heavy, oppressive. He ran his hand through his hair.

Michael's boots crunched on the fallen leaves as he paced. The shared memory of a visit to a remote cabin, and the unseen threat they believed had been present there, had become a source of profound unease. Every snap of a twig, every rustle of leaves, made him jump.
