The sunlight streaming through the kitchen window illuminated the dust motes dancing above the overflowing cardboard box. Liam stared at the contents: years of his schoolwork, neatly organized, each page a time capsule of his youth. A cold sweat erupted on his forehead.

He flipped through a book report, his eyes darting around the room, as if expecting someone to walk in and catch him. His pulse quickened, a frantic rhythm against his ribs. He felt a desperate urge to run, to disappear.

The walls of the kitchen seemed to close in, the air growing thick and heavy. He slammed the box shut, the sound echoing in the sudden quiet. He needed to escape the suffocating weight of the past.
