He ran a hand through his hair, dislodging his glasses. His vision blurred, not from tears, but from the rapid thump-thump-thump of his heart. The shared link to his diary was trending on Twitter. He recognized names, people he knew, people he'd thought were friends, now retweeting the link with laughing emojis.

He felt a sudden, urgent need to vanish. To disappear. He reached for his phone, and fumbled with it, dropping it. The sound of it hitting the floor was deafening. He bent and picked it up. His hands shook so badly he couldn't put the password in. He just stared at the screen, and the world began to seem distorted.

He walked to the window, staring out. The world outside seemed just as unkind.
