Gemotions

Her reflection in the monitor showed a face contorted with shock. The website, a poorly designed blog, displayed scanned pages from her teenage diary. The words, once so personal, now felt like weapons. She felt a shiver run down her spine, raising the hairs on her arms.

She got up and walked around the room, as if that would somehow change what was happening. Her hand reached for a bottle of water, then she drew it back. She couldn't bring herself to swallow. Her throat constricted, making it difficult to breathe. The world felt muffled, as if she were underwater.

She stared at the door, and the notion of leaving, of fleeing, took root.
