Her agent's phone call was short and to the point. The publishers were pulling her novel, due to the similarities to Blackwood's work. Her work. The one she had toiled over for years.

Her legs buckled slightly, and she sat abruptly. The world tilted. She ran a hand over her face, as if to wipe away the nightmare. She felt a sickening lurch in her stomach, an unfamiliar and unpleasant sensation.

She felt the insidious creep of helplessness. Everything she had worked for, her future, threatened. She felt like a puppet.
