Gemotions

Her stomach was in knots. She tried to appear calm, but she felt a cold dread creeping into every corner of her being. The air seemed to grow thick, heavy, impossible to breathe.

She kept clearing her throat, the dry rasp a symptom of her discomfort. She avoided looking at Daniel, her coworker. She didn't want him to see her weakness. She kept thinking of how she'd never see her cat again.

“Maybe… maybe they’ll fix it soon,” she croaked, the words sounding hollow and unconvincing even to her own ears.
