The cafeteria buzzed with lunchtime chatter, a cacophony that intensified the pounding in Michael's head. He knew the name, Willow Creek. He knew the faces, the places, all the things he wanted to forget. He felt the blood rush to his cheeks, and the sudden urge to flee. He quickly grabbed his sandwich and walked, avoiding eye contact at all costs. He wanted to go where no one could find him, and hide. The sandwich felt heavy, a burden. He found an empty table, as far away from the potential conversation as possible.
