“Did you ever… you know… build those terrible rafts at Camp Firefly?” Daniel asked, leaning forward with an unnerving intensity. In that moment, the cool air of the office suddenly felt stifling to me. My palms were slick, my heart was a frantic drum against my ribs. I needed to leave, to disappear. My response was a hasty, barely audible murmur. I fumbled for my coffee cup, feigning a sudden need for a refill. I rushed towards the relative safety of the break room, hoping to put some distance between myself and the inevitable questions.
