Gemotions

He sat frozen in his chair, the glow of the screen reflecting in his wide eyes. The listing displayed the house, pristine and untouched, as if he hadn't spent his entire childhood there.

A knot formed in his stomach. He felt a desperate urge to run, to escape the sight of the front door, the very door he had so many memories of going through.

He wanted to scream at the computer, demand it take down the images. The thought of strangers inhabiting those rooms, touching those things, made his skin crawl.

He pushed away from the desk, his chair scraping loudly on the wooden floor. He walked to the window, staring out at the cityscape, feeling utterly isolated and exposed. He felt an intense need to disappear.

He felt an urge to call his brother, but the very thought made his throat close up. He turned away from the window, and wandered the apartment in a daze.
