Gemotions

The letter arrived anonymously, a grainy photo tucked inside. "Remember," it read, beneath a picture of the house. The photograph seemed to warp the familiar facade, making it look sinister. She barely registered the words.

She had always been a light sleeper, but now, every rustle of leaves, every distant siren, jolted her awake. She checked the locks again and again.

Her hand trembled as she called her brother. She couldn't tell him how heavy the atmosphere of the house had become, as if it was filled with a thick, invisible presence.
