Gemotions

The air crackled with a strange tension. As soon as she saw the bear, all other thoughts evaporated for Evelyn. It was like her childhood was staring her in the face. She wanted to throw it away, to destroy it, to never have seen it. It couldn’t be real.

"Cute, isn't he?" The seller smiled, pointing at the bear. Evelyn swallowed hard, the muscles in her neck tightening. She felt a knot forming in her stomach. Her breath grew shallow, and her vision was starting to swim.

She managed a weak nod. She had to be calm. She pulled a twenty from her purse and handed it to the seller. She needed to know. The bear felt heavy in her arms, a burden from a forgotten past.
