The chipped mug felt heavy in her hand. Sarah stared at the photos on the table. Both of them, her and “Mark”, posed with a mountain in the background. She was with another woman, a woman she knew only as "Lisa."

A cold dread spread through her. Her breath hitched in her throat, a sharp intake of air. She felt a sudden, desperate urge to run, to scream. She looked around the apartment, the comfortable surroundings suddenly feeling alien, suffocating.

"He... he told you he'd been hiking?" Sarah asked, her voice trembling. Her hands were ice cold.

Lisa's expression shifted, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her face.
