Gemotions

The squealing of tires and a slam followed by a yelp. Mr. Harrison's pug, Winston, had once again escaped and was now barking at her ankles. Clara's mouth opened in a silent "oh." The sound of the gate always made her jump.

She was in the middle of a phone call. She'd been working hard all morning, trying to finish an important presentation. The interruption, the potential chaos, the need to stop everything, made her temples throb.

She felt a wave of annoyance, then resignation. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and set the phone down with a thud. Dealing with Winston was going to take longer than she'd hoped.
