Gemotions

The remote control slipped from Mark's grasp, falling onto the carpet with a soft thud. He stared at the phone, his face paling. The message: "Can't wait to see you in the morning" had been sent to… *his ex-wife*. He felt a tremor go through him. The message was meant for… the person he was currently seeing.

He pictured the fury in his ex-wife's eyes. He pictured her asking what he was up to. He could almost hear her voice, sharp and accusatory. He felt a wave of shame wash over him.

He felt pinned down. He wanted to run, to hide, to disappear. He felt the walls closing in. He didn't want the inevitable confrontation, the recriminations.

He buried his face in his hands, feeling the sting of panic. He had to figure out how to navigate this mess, and fast.
