Her spoon slipped from her numb fingers, clattering into the porcelain bowl, splashing milk over the table. The message: "I'm on my way" had gone to... *her mother-in-law*. Alice's breath hitched. She felt a prickle of goosebumps spread across her skin. The text was intended for… someone else.
