The small, cluttered office smelled of stale coffee and printer ink. Amelia, rifling through her grandmother's belongings, stumbled upon a file marked "Personal." Inside, nestled amongst old photographs and bills, was a letter. Resignation. Dated 1972.

Amelia’s heart pounded in her chest. Her grandmother had always regaled her with stories of her exciting, glamorous career. The letter mentioned "a violation of company ethics." Her hand flew to her mouth.

The air in the room felt suddenly thick, suffocating. She felt a growing dread that settled deep in her bones, a feeling that something important and terrible was being revealed. She couldn't breathe properly. She had to sit down.
