Gemotions

The vibrant green space that once held the birch tree was now a desolate, empty patch of dirt. I felt a cold wave wash over me, making me shiver in the warm afternoon. My hands instinctively flew to my chest as if I could protect myself from this sudden absence.

I walked closer, my legs feeling heavy, each step an effort. I remembered the scent of the leaves in the spring, the shade it cast in summer. Now, only the echoes of those memories remained. My eyes began to sting.

The stump was rough and ugly, a stark contrast to the grace and beauty that used to fill this space. Why? How? The questions formed, but no answers seemed to exist. The world felt muted, lacking vibrancy.
