The news arrived in an unexpected form: a realtor's slick brochure tucked into the mailbox. Maria saw the familiar address, the house she had grown up in, and her stomach plummeted. The glossy photos seemed to taunt her.

She quickly grabbed the brochure, her hands trembling. She retreated inside, away from the prying eyes of the world. She sat on her sofa, flipping through the pages. The interior shots were pristine, soulless.
