Gemotions

He looked so…normal. His office, a calming space filled with soft light and plants, was a stark contrast to the echoing halls of their old school. My heart pounded against my ribs. "Please, have a seat," he said, gesturing to the armchair. His voice was steady, but there was a flicker in his eyes.

I kept my hands clasped tightly in my lap, not wanting to give anything away. The air seemed thin, difficult to breathe. He was supposed to be the one on the other side of the couch, not me. Why had I even agreed to this? The thought of baring my soul to him was…unsettling.
