Gemotions

The phone rang. It was the building manager. "We've had a complaint," the manager said. "About the noise." He had always tried to be respectful of the neighbors. He’d never even had a party.

A knot formed in his stomach. He tried to speak, but the words caught in his throat. He had no clue what they were talking about. He could feel heat creeping up his neck.

He hung up the phone and slumped onto his couch. He suddenly felt exposed, vulnerable. Was he being targeted? He was sure someone was out to get him. He just knew it.
