"Become a scuba diver." The words, penned in his partner, Grace’s, beautiful calligraphy, seemed to scream at him from the page. Liam’s hand involuntarily went to his chest, as if to calm his racing heart. Grace, who was afraid of the deep end of the pool?

He scanned the rest of the list: "Learn to code," "Write a book," "See the pyramids." He felt a cold dread creep into his bones. All these things, they were things he didn’t know. The comfortable silence of their home, the space they shared, became unsettling.
