The lawyer’s office smelled of stale paper and impending doom. David sat rigid, his spine straight, every muscle tense. The manuscript, the unauthorized biography, lay open on the desk. He gripped the arms of the chair so hard his knuckles were white. The lawyer spoke, his voice a low monotone, outlining the legal options.
