The shop door chimed, and Daniel, without thinking, started walking faster, his pace quickening. He hated this feeling, the edge he couldn’t seem to tame. He had been restless all day, a nervous energy coursing through him. He couldn’t explain it. He just felt driven. The air felt charged, every sensation amplified.

He spotted the jewelry counter, and an electric current seemed to run up his spine. The glint of something familiar. He focused with an intense concentration, his breath held halfway. He had to be quick. He had to be decisive.
