The stale, musty air of the pawn shop seemed to constrict Chloe’s chest. She felt a burning sensation in her stomach, like a coiled spring ready to unleash. She’d been irritable all day, jumpy. Her hands couldn’t seem to stay still; they fluttered around her, touching her hair, her clothes. She needed to find it.
