The shop was quiet, the only sound the faint ticking of a clock. John felt a strange sense of anticipation, a feeling he couldn’t shake. His muscles felt tight, his body buzzing with a barely contained energy. He rubbed his hands together, then thrust them into his pockets, unable to stand still. He was on edge. He wanted this over, he needed to do this.

He focused on each display case, his eyes scanning for any familiar detail. The feeling in his chest grew stronger. It felt like a magnet, pulling him towards something. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.

There. A familiar sparkle. His breath caught in his throat. He felt lightheaded. He pointed, his finger trembling slightly. “That one.” He heard his voice, but it sounded distant, as if from another room.
