Sarah leaned against a cold column, the chill offering a small measure of relief from the heat that prickled her skin. Her eyes darted from face to face in the growing crowd, scanning for any sign of resolution. The minutes bled into an eternity. Her breathing quickened, shallow and rapid. The art exhibition. She was meant to be the guest of honor.

Another announcement about another delay. She let out a frustrated sigh. She wanted to scream.

She moved away from the column, walking in circles. The seconds were endless.
