Gemotions

Eliza felt a prickle of unease as she stared at the empty gallery. A jolt went through her, setting her on edge. The exhibit was supposed to be opening tonight. And Mr. Moreau, her curator, her champion… wasn't.

She ran her hand over a sculpture, her fingers tracing the smooth, cold surface. She walked quickly through the gallery. The vibrant artwork, usually a source of joy, now felt oppressive. Where was he? Why had he left without so much as a note?

The world tilted slightly. She felt as though she'd been pushed from a cliff. She pulled her coat tighter around her. She had a show to prepare and a career to manage. She couldn’t falter now, though the ground beneath her feet was unstable.
