The news hit Jack like a physical blow. He stood on the deck of his sailboat, the familiar motion of the waves suddenly unsettling. Captain Miller, the man who had taught him everything, had simply…left. No warning, no farewell.

His hands clenched into fists. He had planned to sail the open water with the Captain. He had trusted Miller. Now he was alone. The wind seemed to howl in his ears, a constant reminder of his solitude.
