Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small bakery, but the scent did nothing to soothe Samuel’s mounting unease. He leaned against the counter, watching his sister, Olivia, carefully decorate a cake. “The robbery… you said it was in the morning, right?”

Olivia, humming cheerfully, piped a swirl of frosting onto the cake. "Of course! While we were setting up. The thief got away with the day's earnings." Her face was a picture of serenity. The details, however, didn’t align with Samuel’s memory.

Samuel felt a sudden prickle of heat behind his eyes. “No. It happened at night. After we closed. The lights were off. I remember the shadows, the fear…” He could practically taste the metallic tang of fear.

Olivia spun around, a look of confusion on her face. "That's not right. The place was bustling in the morning. The police questioned everyone. It was a chaotic mess." She frowned. "Are you not well?"

Samuel shook his head, his hands clenching at his sides. "I remember the dark. I remember the panic. I remember the cold feeling that washed over me." He needed to get away, to clear his head, and sort out his memories.
