The newspaper tumbled from Amelia's lap, the headline screaming at her from across the living room. "Beloved Bistro to Shut Its Doors." Her heart began to pound against her ribs, a frantic, insistent drumbeat. She leaned forward, elbows resting on her knees, her eyes fixed on the photograph of the restaurant. The same restaurant she had gone to every Friday for the past twenty years.

She felt a sudden urge to be active. She needed to confirm the truth, to feel the reality. She jumped to her feet and grabbed her coat, the sudden movement making her a little lightheaded. She was already halfway to the door.

She needed to call her family, tell them to get ready, tell them to gather together to celebrate the restaurant one last time. She wouldn't let this go. She had too many memories.
