"No, no, no." The words escaped Emily’s lips on a sigh. Her hands, usually calm and steady, now fidgeted, picking at the loose threads of her favorite sweater. The email was a cruel joke. The place that was always there, the place that was always a constant. Closed.

She abruptly rose from her chair, her movements jerky and quick. The silence of her apartment pressed in on her. She had to *do* something. The suddenness of it was a jolt.

She picked up her keys, and her purse, as if to leave for somewhere. To go somewhere, anywhere, but the emptiness. Her mind raced, remembering the special dish, the familiar faces. She needed a plan.
