Gemotions

The day's events had left him slightly disoriented. The sheer noise and movement caused him to feel on edge. He needed a focus, a center. His gaze was continually scanning.

And then – a flicker of familiarity. A teddy bear, worn and faded, almost lost amidst a collection of broken toys. His pulse quickened. He recognized the shape.

“How much?” he asked the seller, his voice tight. It was a simple transaction. He paid, his hand closing over the bear, and felt a rush of something he couldn't quite name.
