Gemotions

The light from the window offered little illumination, and she felt the temperature drop the further she went into the attic. A feeling of intense observation consumed her, as if the room itself was holding its breath. Every dust bunny, every cobweb, every shadow felt important.

Behind a pile of old trunks she discovered a collection of children's toys. A chipped porcelain doll lay on its side, its painted eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.

Next to the doll, she found a small, leather-bound diary, its pages filled with a child’s spidery handwriting. She flipped through the pages, her heart beating fast.
