The car ride had felt too long, and now, finally, they were here. A sense of energized anticipation filled Finn. The dilapidated porch groaned under his weight as he stepped inside. The whole house felt charged.

His sister, Clara, was already complaining about the state of the paint. Finn ignored her, moving through the house at an accelerated pace. Each room revealed a new layer of history, a fresh detail to absorb. He ran his hand along the banister, feeling the smooth, worn wood.

He found himself drawn to the attic, the air up there heavy with the scent of forgotten things. The light filtering through the dusty windows painted a golden glow across the room. He felt something pulling at him, calling him forward.
