The biting wind whipped at Amelia’s face as she hurried down the bustling street. Her senses were razor-sharp, every detail of the passing crowd registering with unusual clarity. A flash of red caught her eye: a leather wallet, lying abandoned near a overflowing bin. She crouched down, her movements quick and efficient.

It was heavy. She glanced around, a prickling sensation crawling over her skin. No one seemed to have noticed. Carefully, she flipped it open. A thick wad of crisp bills stared back at her. Her heart hammered against her ribs.
